Silat Minangkabau
A Malay–Indonesian art from the Minangkabau highlands, rich in footwork, off-balancing and cultural heritage.
Silat is the family of martial arts of the Malay world. The Minangkabau of West Sumatra maintain silat traditions deeply tied to their culture and to the region's Islamic heritage. These traditions are characterised by low, mobile footwork, off-balancing and the integration of empty-hand and weapon methods.
What MMS studies: footwork and off-balancing, and silat's place within Islamic martial heritage.
